QuestionMy booms are turning on/off late, is there any adjustment?

AnswerYes, in the Automatic Swath Control screen there are look-ahead values that can be adjusted for both turning on and the turning off of the boom sections.

This screen can be found under Setup > (highlight current configuration) > Wrench > Automatic Swath Control > Look-Ahead Settings

To get the boom sections to turn on or off EARLIER, you would increase the Turn On Look-Ahead value. To get the function to occur LATER, you would decrease the Look-Ahead value. When making adjustments to the Turn On/Off Look Ahead values, it is recommended to use increments of 0.2 of a second and then verifying performance.

Turn – On Look-Ahead Determines how far ahead the system looks to turn the swath sections back on. This setting compensates for any delay in the product control system when the sections are turned on.

  • Example:  The orange box in the figure above represents the Turn On Look-Ahead value. Boom sections are turning on too soon when starting a pass.  Decrease the Turn-On Look-Ahead.

Turn – Off Look-Ahead Determines how far ahead the system looks to turn the swath sections off. This setting compensates for delay in the product control system when the boom sections are turned off

  • Example: The blue box in the figure above represents the Turn Off Look-Ahead value. Boom sections are turning off too soon and are leaving skips at the end of a pass. This is where the Turn Off Look-Ahead would be decreased.

The white arrows in the figure above represent properly adjusted look ahead values.
